Introducing the MyHeritage #HolidayHeritage Challenge

Oh, the memories. The scents of Grandma’s festive cooking. The lilting notes of gentle singing wafting in through the windows. The warm glow of flickering candles. The holidays are a precious time to spend with family, making new memories and looking back on old ones.

In that spirit, this holiday season, we are delighted to announce the MyHeritage #HolidayHeritage Challenge! 

The Competition:

Each week during the month leading up to Christmas, we will post a new question or challenge — and each week we’ll select a different winner. Among the prizes you could win are MyHeritage DNA kits, subscriptions, and one grand prize winner will receive 10 free DNA kits for everyone on their holiday list!  

To enter, simply post your answer to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #holidayheritage tagging MyHeritage (Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram). Share your post with friends and family to get as many likes as possible. 

At the end of that week, the entry with the most votes will win a MyHeritage Complete subscription, a MyHeritage DNA test, and a MyHeritage Health Test — and the winner will be entered into the grand prize draw. 

The First Challenge:

For the first challenge, share your oldest family photo from the holidays! Tell us who’s in it, when it’s from, and what those people mean to you. 

Post your photo to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and make sure to use the hashtag #holidayheritage. The first challenge will be open from November 22–28, 2019. 

We can’t wait to hear about your holiday memories and to help you create new memories your family will cherish for generations to come.

    I do not have any of the social media that you mentioned, but remember Christmas stockings on Christmas morning. Daddy and Mama finally had to limit the time we got up to 5:00am as all of us could hardly wait! There was always an orange in the toe of the stocking and the gifts or candy depended on our state in the economy! We had to wait to open our gifts after breakfast (we all ate so fast!) and the dishes were washed.

    Christmas Story — We were a growing family. Eight wonderful children and one more on the way. Our ‘Station Wagon” was getting old about ready to call it quits. Well really all our cars were always “old” when we bought them. It was early December, and to our surprise, over at our local DI on sale was an old, old Ford wood panel station wagon. I had never seen a used car being sold at the DI, nor have I since then. We checked it out and it needed quite a bit of engine, etc. work. It did not run. ….fast forward…. On Christmas morning, after the family had got lined up in the hall, and then we all entered the front room (Christmas Tree and Presents) the children were very excited, and as I entered last, I glanced out the front window, and with a reverent voice stated “there really is a Santa Claus”. In the drive way was the DI Ford with a large red ribbon wrapped around the middle of it. I was a young Bishop, and one of my councilors had collected funds from friends, and got the Wagon….taken it to their home and parked it in the garage…and he had worked on it to get it running. We found out later, that he and his wife, had pulled it into the “court” and waited until our lights were out (My wife loved fixing the children’s Christmas, after they had gone to bed) and then the two of them PUSHED the car down the court and into the drive way…..Thank you Heavenly Father.

    Hmm, this could be decided in favor of the one with the most active family and friends online which I don’t think is quite fair to the participants. However, I do understand it is probably good for My Heritage advertising so that maybe is fair to them as they are giving away some wonderful prizes.
