New Update to the MyHeritage Mobile App

New Update to the MyHeritage Mobile App

The MyHeritage mobile app makes it easier than ever to explore and share your family history on the go. If you don’t yet have the MyHeritage mobile app, download it here. It’s available for iOS and Android, for both smartphones and tablets.

We’re happy to announce several new features in the MyHeritage mobile app to help you improve your family history research. Among the newly introduced features are Family Timelines, the ability to view family trees that you’re matched with, the ability to choose which information you extract from Smart Matches™, an improved research page, and more.

Legacy Family Tree Webinars recently hosted Guy Tsype, our Product Manager responsible for the MyHeritage mobile app, for a webinar describing all the new features in detail:

Family Timelines

Experience your family’s story in a special way using Family Timelines. From any profile in the family tree, click on the clock icon on the top right. You’ll then be able to explore that relative’s timeline and scroll through their family story. It’s a fun way to showcase and highlight family members and their journeys.

The more events and facts with dates you add to relatives in your family tree, the richer the family timeline will become. The Family Timeline is currently available only for smartphones (not yet on iPads and tablets).

Extracting Information from Smart Matches

Much like the MyHeritage website, after reviewing and confirming a match, you can now choose which pieces of useful information to extract from the match into your tree, rather than copying everything. This feature was in high demand, as many experienced genealogists prefer to extract information from matches manually.

Research

We’ve completely revamped our search pages on the mobile app to help you explore the lives of your ancestors through billions of historical records.

By default, your search will be conducted among all records located in SuperSearch. Choose “Enable advanced search” to further refine your search.

You can tap the “By collection” tab to browse through our collections or search for a specific record collection. Selecting a collection will enable you to search for records in that specific collection.

View Other Trees

When reviewing a match, we added the ability to view the family tree that you are matched with so you can easily compare the two trees, and review new information. You can access this feature via Smart Matches™ or DNA Matches.

Photo Sharing

Until now, you could only add photos to your family site directly through the MyHeritage app. We’ve added the ability to upload photos to MyHeritage from some of the most popular photo sharing and editing apps. When tapping on a photo, use the share button to select the MyHeritage app. The MyHeritage widget will pop up and you will be asked to add an optional title to the photo or photos. Then you’ll be able to upload the photo(s) to a person in the family tree or to a specific photo album.

With the MyHeritage App, you’ll never miss an exciting discovery. Download it now and begin using it today. We have plenty of new features planned for upcoming releases, so stay tuned!
