MyHeritage DNA Reveal with Pete Hegseth from Fox & Friends

Friend of MyHeritage and author of the book “Something Beautiful Happened,” Yvette Corporon, recently visited the set of Fox and Friends where she revealed DNA test results of Pete Hegseth and Rachel Campos-Duffy live on air. Yvette provided them with their DNA ethnicity results and genealogical research containing fascinating historical documents found by the MyHeritage research team.

Pete Hegseth

Pete was confident that his results would show his Norwegian background. They more than confirmed his hypothesis, showing an overwhelming 96.4% Scandinavian! He also had 2% Irish, Scottish, and Welsh, and 1.6% percent North and West European.

The MyHeritage team located a photo of Pete’s great-grandparents, who were born in Norway! The couple settled in Minnesota, and Gunder became a very prosperous farmer. The couple had 11 children.

Looking at the other side of the family, we were able to explain Pete’s deep roots in the Lutheran church. Pete’s great-grandfather John Hegseth moved around as a child. His mother passed away, leaving his father a widow with four children. His father remarried a woman with six children. When John’s father passed away, it was no longer possible for John’s stepmother to care for all the children, and she put him up for adoption. He was adopted by a local reverend, a man who founded the local church which is the head church.

Rachel Campos-Duffy

Rachel’s DNA results showed her to be 70.9% European — made up of 59.9% South European, 8.1% percent North and West European, and 2.9% Eastern European, in addition to 21.3% Central American, and 7.8% African.

Her great-grandfather, Juan Jose Socko Núñez, was a musician in Spain. He studied at a provincial school of music in Madrid, later he moving to Santander where he lived in an apartment with four other musicians. He was actually fired from his job for standing up and speaking out for his beliefs, a trait passed down to Rachel and her family!

We also located Rachel’s grandfather’s baptismal certificate from Mexico, from his baptism on October 25, 1903.

I only had a name my mothers sister gave at 9 years old after my “Daddy” stepfather passed away. I searched through micro phish as I grew up looking for him. I was looking for my biological father. I had taken my DNA with Ancestry. I uploaded it every where I could. When I thought I found him and had contact, he tried taking a test through Ancestry and it kept coming back not enough DNA to test. Well this is where My Heritage came into the story, his only full sister did not believe I was his daughter took a DNA test on your site. She had blocked me on Ancestry and had no clue I also had my DNA on your site. Her results popped up one day in an email, sure enough I had found my biological father. My Heritage had matched us, her being my Aunt or half sister. Well she and my Mother are only a year apart in age. So I had found my answers. She still won’t speak to me, however my father and I speak daily. Since we live 2150 miles apart we have never met. I hope one day to be able to do that. Thank you so much for helping me find my Father.

    Hi Pete!

Wow…my husband and I have been heavily involved in genealogy research for a long time now and I am amazed that you are 96% Norweigan! That just seems so incredible to me…that you have maintained that amount of DNA for so many generations!

    Thanks for sharing.
