A Sneak Peek Inside the MyHeritage HQ

A Sneak Peek Inside the MyHeritage HQ

At MyHeritage, we’re passionate about family, and our family-like work environment has always reflected this since our early startup days. To keep this atmosphere even as we expand, our offices have been designed to balance a fun and welcoming office environment, with a reflection of our commitment to the preservation of family history.

MyHeritage began in Founder and CEO Gilad Japhet’s living room in Bnei Atarot, a village founded by the Templers. Then for several years the company’s headquarters were located in a Templer family estate and farmhouse in the same village. This picturesque setting is where the company grew from 2 to 70 employees.

In February 2012, we needed more space to accommodate our ever-growing team. The company moved its headquarters to new offices in Or Yehuda, near Tel Aviv. Since then we grew to 260 employees.

To date, we have three offices in Israel; our main office in Or Yehuda, and two others in Tel Aviv. We also have two offices in the US; one in Lehi, Utah, and another in Burbank, California, home of our Geni team.

Today we invite you to take a look inside our main headquarters in Or Yehuda, and meet some of our team.

Our offices are nice and roomy for the team and visitors to enjoy, and include some attractive features to keep everyone inspired. We worked together with the architects who designed the new office to merge the old, warm Templer setting into a modern office environment.

The entrance sitting area includes some old family photos of our team and a set of digital screens that project a large collection of old family photos from all over the world.

The office doesn’t have a reception desk, because you won’t find a reception in any family’s home.

Real vintage brick walls and wooden floors give the space a cozy and homey feel.

Bright, open offices with large windows.

Programmers hard at work.

These two developers are actually brothers.

And so are they!

We’re all about working together. Large meeting rooms are key for collaboration.

Sometimes a sitting area isn’t even necessary!

Our Marketing team doing some brainstorming.

Here’s a glimpse of the Customer Relations team:

Sales representatives taking a break:

Designers on the Creative team:

Cheers from the Operations and IT team!

Vintage family memorabilia adorn this nook.

Sitting areas with couches and chairs provide a quiet spot for meetings or a coffee and catch-up.

Our large kitchen is well-stocked and used for daily lunches, company toasts, and other large company-wide gatherings.

Enjoying the view of planes flying overhead while eating lunch outside on the deck.

The deck is also a great place for impromptu meetings:

The translations team taking a ping-pong break.

Weekly yoga classes are a great way to start the day.

Some employees taking a break to train for races on the MyHeritage running team.

MyHeritage employees giving back to the community, helping the elderly build their family trees.

MyHeritage employees take pride in working together like one big happy family.

Our CEO Gilad says hi!

Here are some shots of our other Tel Aviv offices. Our Utah and California offices.

Thanks for visiting our headquarters!

In the coming weeks, we’ll begin a new series to introduce you to some of the people behind the company, highlighting the personal stories of some of our employees. We’ve also created a new page on our website where you can meet our management team.

We’d be happy to hear your thoughts about our office and work environment.

    Hello Team,
It really is quite a treat to be able to visit you at your fabulous historic site! For me a real treat and will be my first stop on any trip to Israel. The reason it is so special to me is the fact that I am a Knight, Hospitaller of the venerable Order of St. John of Jerusalem.
The real reason for my contact is that I would like to thank Yoni Barki for all the help he gave me during December with my Premium Plus membership. I see that in your presentation, you help the elderly, I am 81 in June, he certainly showed the company mission statement, in helping me.
    Kind regards
    Roy L. Jackson, MMM,JCD,MMM,KStJ.

    Hi all ,
Good to see the Irish Census Records of 1901 & 1912 accessible . You might consider putting up the Griffith Poor Law Valuations of c.1848 & the Applottment Tithe records of c. 1828 up on line as well as I’m sure they would be of great interest to the vast Irish American Diaspora of c 50m people alone !

It all looks and sounds like a very good place in which to work, with equally creative colleagues. It is hardly surprising to me that a system such as yours was created in Israel; my working experience with electronic companies in Israel was always inspiring, for innovation they had no peers. My very best wishes for the continued success of your company, and thank you for the ‘insight’

Thank you for a great piece of funtional software! 🙂 I started my “tree” way back in the Late 1960’s when a family member show me a portrait of my Great Grandfather and 10 children in Scotland. i wanted to know who these people were. i pestered my parents and an Aunt (a Dame of the Order of St John’s Ambulance Divison (she has just turned 104 years of age). then i became a Software programmer and the “tree” algorithm was just started to being used in DOS. Anyway, am am still at my “tree” and it has grown back 40 generations, into the Medieval Scotland and the Crusades. Without your smart matches, this would not have been possible (or would take centuries of going through parish records and documentation.
Thanks for the stirling work you guys are doing. We are after all, one big family. 🙂 🙂

Thank you for this behind the scenes profile. I like to know all the good people who have created such a great service. Best Genealogy site in the world to work with! Thanks for the tour. Our myheritage tree helped us find out that my husband is also my nineteenth cousin twice removed…. we think that we maybe closer related than that. four years ago I donated a kidney to Dave with a record 98% match at the royal Melbourne Hospital. Now we know why! We have the same royal ancestry! Feel free to check out our tree: when you ever get a spare moment folks!

Thank you for the MyHeritage office tour. That is a great deck on the roof. Thank you for all your hard work for we genealogists. In October my wife and I had a great Gate1 tour of Israel.

What jumped out at me was that most, if not all, of your employees are very young active persons – who are in the business of connecting with older, usually deceased persons. As I stopped and thought about that – is that not COOL. Our future also is in good hands.

Enjoyed the visual tour. Very nice to learn more about the company I started using about a year ago. I see that you are constantly trying to improve search possibilities and appreciate that. I have just started on this journey and with good luck we will grow together and uncover much personal history.

But your research revealed my grandmother was once married to the man my mother thought to be her father…This little tidbit was never revealed to the family st least not to the grand children.I Cantu wait to learn more.

Thank you for the tour of your offices and meeting the employees of “My Heritage”. I didn’t realize that you had offices in the States. Besides the staff I was impressed with your roof top layout with the trees and plants that the staff could enjoy.

Looks like a very nice place to work, although if one loves their job, it does not feel like work. Been a member for years, caught the bug and just love it. Your hard work shows on your website. I have to mention a wish to you. I think it would be cool if a member has the choice to have an Anniversary notification of an event of their choice, such as upcoming death anniversary, marriage, births, hey, even the day I quit smoking! That is a day to celebrate. Keep up the good work and be safe in this troubled world.

G’day from downunder. Thank you so much for information I have gleaned from the “my heritage” website, it had just been amazing. My fathers’ side of the family has been done to death, and my real interests lie in researching my mothers’ (Irish) side of the family and any pointers you could give me would be marvellous. I really do appreciate all your efforts. Keep up the great work.

I enjoy logging on to My Heritage to see if there are any new ancestors to find. Thanks to Samuel, I have made lots of new discoveries since taking up the premium site. I found out I am 5 6 directly descended to the Duke of Bedford, hence to prince William and family! Could you believe it. I have found ascendants back to the 1500’s but no Jewish connection as yet. I’m sure my Hirschfelds from Pozen must be hiding there somewhere!

I am surprised that MY HERITAGE started and works out of Israel. Very well organized and comfortable working conditions. I am 93 years old, live in British Columbia,Canada. Trying to learn how to”operate” a laptop computer. I am most interested in finding my great, great, Grandfather. With help I have been able to find a man, who may be, who I am looking for. I have his name, his birthdate, Country he was born in, approximately when he immigrated to Canada, where he lived and died, where he was buried. Since he was born in 1747, I am finding it very difficult to find records that go that far back. My Heritage has helped me, with finding ancestors of my great, great,Grandmother, Thank You.

Through MyHeritage I had my DNA tested some time ago. Am I able to get a print out of the results of my DNA?

    • Yael

      March 25, 2018

      Hi David,

Yes, of course! When you’re logged in to MyHeritage, click on “DNA” at the top of the screen. Then choose “Manage DNA kits” from the drop down menu. Next, click on the three dots on the right-hand side of a person whose DNA kit you manage. A menu will appear. Click on “Download kit” to download your DNA data. Then print the downloaded file from you computer.

      Enjoy!

Dear Gilad and team @ MyHeritage!

Thankyou (X many, many times!) for the excellent system and service.

Although you call me 110725751, I know (deep down) that you think of me and my family as a part of your BIG worldwide family.

I have recently sent you my DNA sample, and I simply cannot WAIT to dig into the results.

Although I know quite a lot about my paternal ancestors (Glass) from the UK pre-1820, I know nothing about my Maternal Jewish ancestors (Lerner) from Szitomir, (Polonnaso) Russia. I am currently saving up so that I can ask about hiring a researcher to look for more information about the Lerners pre 1886.

    Thanks again,
    an (excited) member of MyHeritage!

You are my last hope? I was born on or about August 16, 1938 (?) in the now torn down Providence Hospital in Detroit. My story is more than 10 typed pages long and relates that I honestly believe my real mother was a young Jewish girl who was impregnated in Nazi Germany, late 1937. I too, believe I was a miscarriage replacement for the women who raised me. She admitted herself to that hospital on August 16. The few documents I have I want you to examine all to see if I am full of it or if I am the son of an Ashkenazi Jew and a German. I am 81. I talked with two portrait artists at different times. I questioned them if they could see in me my heritage. Without hesitation both answered, you are German!. I answered, that is wrong, I am 100% Norwegian! Sorry, there is no Norwegian in your face. Then (see attachment, I had the blood type of my progenitor(?) and mine evaluated by a blood expert. He answered that he could have been 25% your father.
So, I want to mail you all the documents I have. I just ordered a kit from you, Acct # 1019939811. You being my last chance, I hope you can help me. All I want is closure before I leave this planet. Also, if I am Jewish, I want to know, so I can celebrate! Please advise with a mailing address?
