MyHeritage Surpasses 1 Million Annual Subscribers!

We’re celebrating an extraordinary milestone at MyHeritage: we’ve surpassed one million annual subscribers! We’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our users who have subscribed over the years. All of you have been an essential part of our journey and we could not be more grateful. 

Our roots

It seems like only yesterday our founder and CEO Gilad Japhet decided to channel his passion for family history into a business venture and started the company as a garage startup from home. Our website went live in 2005, and since then we’ve been constantly growing and innovating. Our advanced Smart Matching™ technology was released in 2007, the MyHeritage mobile app went live in 2010, we began offering historical records in 2012, MyHeritage DNA was launched in 2016 — and that was just the beginning.

Our growth has been nothing short of phenomenal. Today, we are trusted by 96 million users worldwide. Our site is available in 42 languages and is home to 82 million family trees, 16.1 billion historical records, and 5.6 million DNA kits in our DNA database. 

Visiting our one millionth subscriber

To celebrate the occasion, we decided to pay a surprise visit to our one millionth subscriber, Bénédicte Halpouter, at her home in Belgium and talk with her about her MyHeritage experience. We celebrated with Bénédicte with a marching band, balloons, and cake. We topped it all off with a free lifetime Complete subscription to MyHeritage. Congratulations Bénédicte!
