Technical Difficulties Reaching MyHeritage Website Due to External DNS Problems – Currently Being Resolved

Update March 11, 2021: The problems have been fully resolved by Imperva and there should be no issues accessing the MyHeritage website.

————

Some of our users have reported technical difficulties reaching the MyHeritage website due to DNS issues. DNS is the protocol that resolves domain names to server addresses. These issues are currently being resolved.

Starting at around midnight GMT on the night of Tuesday, March 9, 2021, Imperva, the third-party network service that we use at MyHeritage began experiencing severe DNS problems. Many websites that use Imperva are experiencing similar issues.

Imperva are currently working on resolving this issue. They have corrected the underlying cause, but internet service providers (ISPs) around the world still have some caching of incorrect DNS records, which is causing the problems to persist in certain countries.

Imperva is contacting ISPs to request that they flush their DNS cache, which should resolve these DNS failures. As the cache is revoked over the next 24 hours, the problem will dissipate. If any users are unable to access MyHeritage, please contact us at the email address support@myheritage.com, and let us know the name of your internet service provider so that we may contact them and have them revoke their cache.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. We emphasize that this was not caused by MyHeritage, and has nothing to do with the high popularity of the Deep Nostalgia feature, but rather, was caused by a third-party service.

We will post another update once the issues are completely resolved.
