Memorable Royal Weddings

This week marks the long-awaited wedding of Prince Harry, who is now sixth in line to the throne, behind the newborn Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge. Prince Harry will marry his American girlfriend Meghan Markle at St. George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle, where Prince Harry was christened.

The event will be broadcast around the world for millions to watch as with other special Royal weddings dating back to 1960. Princess Margaret’s wedding to Antony Armstrong-Jones at Westminster Abbey was the first royal wedding to be broadcast on television. More than 20 million viewers tuned in to watch.

We thought we’d celebrate the momentous event by showing some fantastic video footage from a few of the memorable Royal weddings of the past century — some recent, and some going back quite a while, such as footage from the Queen Mother’s wedding in 1923!
