Where in the world is MyHeritage’s chief genealogist?

2014 has just begun, and I’m ready to start my travels to genealogy conferences and give lectures around the world.

This year will see a new set of lectures regarding MyHeritage products and new features. The previous ones are, of course, still available. I’ve also developed some lectures about genealogy in general like cemetery research and roots travel, or more specific ones related to Jewish genealogy and Israel.

RootsTech 2012: Day two highlights

It was another exciting day at RootsTech. The MyHeritage booth was very busy all day, as the team told those who stopped by how MyHeritage and World Vital Records can help advance their research. Visitors were a mix of those new to MyHeritage, along with those who were already members.

Schelly, Steve Morse and Mark

A large audience heard Dave Barney of Google present the many uses of Google for genealogy. He demonstrated various features, ranging from Google Maps and  how to pinpoint your ancestors on a street level view map and how to zoom in to their historic homes, churches and more to show your family’s living history. He shared a photo of the Swedish church – still standing - where his ancestors were married more than two centuries ago. The building was shown in Google street view.

West Coast Genealogy Tour I

Daniel lecturing at NGS

Daniel lecturing at NGS

I have finally found time to write about my recent trip, which featured two intensive genealogy-focused weeks. I returned to a huge backlog of emails and other tasks and then had to firm up the details of my next trip.

First, I want to thank all the wonderful people who hosted me during this trip.

It kicked off in Grand Junction, Colorado, where Dale Seibert, of the local LDS Family History Center, invited me to the Family History Fair. This small town is simply beautiful, everyone is friendly and doors are open all the time. I gave four lectures on “Face Recognition” and “Family Tree Builder software”.

People were so kind - as they have been in every other place I have visited. I think the most amazing thing for them was to have someone from so far away visit. Believe me, I did it with pleasure.
