“We Are All Blended!”: The results are in!
Just a few weeks ago, we announced our new campaign with the Borussia Dortmund soccer club, entitled “We Are All Blended.” When Patrick Owomoyela, Mahmoud Dahoud, and Nuri Sahin revealed their roots with MyHeritage DNA a few months ago, they discovered that they have more in common than they realized.

Four additional players — Marwin Hitz, Julian Weigl, Maximilian Philipp, and Mario Götze — were inspired and decided to take a MyHeritage DNA test to reveal their ethnic origins and find out where their ancestors came from.

Marwin Hitz
Marwin was the first to receive his results. Born and raised in Switzerland, he assumed that his results would reflect his presumed Swiss roots. He was pretty surprised to discover that he is 32.1% Italian.

Julian had ventured a guess that he is partially Czech, but his results told him otherwise. He was shocked to discover that he’s actually 44.1% Scandinavian and 39.9% Italian.

Maximilian thought that he might have some English or Irish in his genes, and he was right! He is in fact 21.8% English. Discovering that he is 39.2% Eastern European, however, took him completely by surprise. He is looking forward to exploring his newly discovered origins with his family.

Mario Götze
Mario was surprised to discover that he is a blend of six different ethnicities. He suspected that he was part Italian and he was right. His Ethnicity Estimate showed that he is 10.6% Italian. But what came next completely blew him away — Mario discovered that he is 8.7% North African and 0.8% Nigerian!
