Happy Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day is a designated time to pay tribute to all the incredible moms in your family. It is celebrated in many different ways. Some buy their mother a gift or send them flowers; others write cards — and let’s not forget breakfast in bed for mom! It is an excellent opportunity to get the whole family together and to let your mother know just how much she means to you.

We recently asked you to nominate the special mothers in your family tree that made a difference in your life.

Here are some of our favorites that we’ve chosen to feature today:

Donna Driggers

When I think of my life, my Aunt is who my mother is. She didn’t give birth to me, but she did everything else. When I was 5 years old, and my older sister 7, she took us in to raise us in addition to her own 5 children, including an infant. I just don’t know how she did it. She treated Everyone of us the same. There is not enough I can say about her to show what an awesome person she was. She loved us just as if we were hers. We were hers. I love her so much. She chose, without hesitation to care for us. I once asked her , What did you say when Daddy asked you? She looked at me and said Yes. I was surprised. There was no hesitation, no regrets, and we grew up with a family that will always be where we belong. Thank you Lord for my Aunt Christine.

Janice A Hembree

Honoring my Mother, Gloria Caroline Cordrey Hembree is just not enough to celebrate her life. My Mother had (has) seven (7) children, all of which have been told are only children! It means, she never chose one over the other, and we did feel special. Each one of us has very different personalities, but she understood and helped each one to grow their own way. Every day, I use some of the teachings she shared with me, and now that she is 85 she needs our help and we are more than happy to be beside her and pray every day she does not leave us, though I know she will. My life without her is something I cannot even imagine. I hope she knows in her heart that we all honor her, more than she knows.

Jacquilyn Bondank

I’m nominating my mom Gracie Farni. When I think of mom only one person comes to my mind and that is my mom! On 7-24-14 my family was faced with an unexpected tragedy when we lost our father unexpectedly and in the middle of the night at age 45 my mother and father married when mom was 17 and dad was 15 My mom stayed by my dad every day until he took his last breath she woke up in the middle of the night and noticed my dad was not breathing and began cpr on him! My dad was my moms love of her life! My mom is the true definition of a mother who loves her kids unconditionally! Her and my dad hand and hand built the rock solid foundation that my family stands on today! Words can not describe how truly amazing my mother is! I love you mom you are my hero!!
