Tracing Kate Middleton’s family tree

Tracing Kate Middleton’s family tree

In case you didn’t know, today is the 30th birthday of Kate Middleton and we couldn’t think of a better way to honor the occasion than by sharing her fascinating family history and tree.

Kate’s family history – contrary to her now relatively opulent lifestyle – is one that many of us can attest to in our family trees.

Kate’s family are from the North of England and – up to the last few generations – her ancestors were mostly working-class. According to the New England Historic Genealogical Society her ancestors include merchants, messengers, solicitors, cabinet makers, butchers, bakers, a laundress, and coalminers.

The Society also revealed in November 2010 that Kate Middleton (along with the Queen Mother and Princess Diana) is a cousin of America’s first president, George Washington.

My daughter was born the day before Kate in the same hospital–‘The Royal Berkshire’ Reading and we also lived in Pangbourne for about 2 years.I have traced my family back over 1000 years and share common ancestors with Prince William vis Matilda of Huntington who married David I of Scotland–we also share ancestors including William The Conqueror and Charlemagne. I have a very rich family tree including the de Clares.
