Competition: The largest family photo

Last week we asked you to send in your oldest family photos as part of a weekly competition to win a free photo consultation with Maureen Taylor, the Photo Detective. This week, we would like to see your photos with the largest number of family members.

We also want to thank everyone who submitted beautiful images showcasing their family history. We received hundreds of photos from around the world, dating back to the 1850s!

Eunice Baldwin Whedon (b. 1778, d. 1854)

Congratulations to Janice Moerschel who sent in this photo of  her relative Eunice Baldwin Whedon from Branford, New Haven, Connecticut. You can see her photo consultation with Maureen Taylor here.

It was difficult to choose a winner from the photos submitted. View all the entries on our Pinterest board here.

However, the competition isn't over. This week, we're giving one lucky winner a chance to win another free photo consultation with Maureen. Continue reading "Competition: The largest family photo" »

Honoring Our Mothers: Mother’s Day competition

Mother’s Day is nearly here. What better way to thank our mothers for everything they've done for us than by reflecting on all the wonderful mothers out there.

Mothers have a strong impact on our lives. Many even say that “mother knows best.”

Whether they are, in fact, our grandmothers, our aunts or our own mothers, all leave us with lasting impressions of the advice and wisdom they share.

Growing up, I remember listening to my grandmother recall her childhood, and learning about my own history. On my first day of school, I remember my mother's hug and her words of encouragement, reassuring me that everything would be OK. I know that - even today - I can always count on these great women in my family.

Mothers around the world have a huge influence on our lives. It's always important to show our appreciation for all they do. Continue reading "Honoring Our Mothers: Mother’s Day competition" »

Competition: The oldest wedding photo?

Springtime is here and the wedding season is near.

Wedding photos preserve your unique family legacy and document memories in your family history research.

We want to know the stories behind your ancestors' wedding photos.

In February, our colleague Justyna received a stunning 1932 wedding photograph via the MyHeritage Polish Facebook page, from a member.

Wedding Photo 1932

With that photo’s popularity, we wanted to see more of our members' family memories.

What's your oldest wedding photo of an ancestor?

Share your photos of your ancestors' weddings, a brief description of the people, and the date and place where they were married.

The oldest photos - with the most interesting stories - will be posted on our blog and our Facebook page. Readers will decide the winner.

One lucky winner will receive a one-year Premium subscription and a one-year data subscription.

Send photos by April 22 (with description, date and place) with the subject "Wedding Competition" to stories@myheritage.com.

Good luck!

Note: Do not send photos not your own or those for which you do not have permission to use. MyHeritage is not responsible for photos that may be transferred without the consent of the family. The competition is open to registered users at MyHeritage. Don’t have an account yet? Start your free digital family tree today at www.myheritage.com.
