That is awesome. How about never too old to be a Flower girl? My husband’s cousin got married in June and the two grandmothers were the flower girls! It was precious! I would post a picture, but don’t see how on this comment page.
Grandmother Betty Govern, 89 – known as Nana Betty – shone brightly as a bridesmaid at her granddaughter Christine’s wedding, in Pennsylvania. In her evening gown and bouquet, she stole the show and proved that you’re never too old to be a bridesmaid!
At the wedding, she said, “You’re as old as you feel and I feel young today!”
Their story was featured recently in the Huffington Post.
From the moment Christine became engaged, it was never a question that her grandmother would join the wedding party as a bridesmaid on the big day. Her grandmother is one of her best friends.
“While she doesn’t live that close, we have continually made it a point to spend as much time together as possible,” Christine told the Huffington Post. “She just has an amazing sense of humor and outlook on life that I strive to emulate every day. Everyone loves her.”
Christine officially asked her grandmother to be a bridesmaid only a few months before the wedding, so she didn’t have too much time to consider it. She wasn’t expecting her grandmother to accept, since Nana Betty is quite shy and doesn’t like to be the center of attention.
“She asked me about 10 times, ‘Are you sure?’ and ‘Why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?'” Christine said. “A few times she even said ‘All of your bridesmaids are young and pretty, why would you want me?'”
Obviously Nana is beautiful too. Just look at those photos!
Do you have special family members that were bridesmaids at your wedding?

Kudos to you, Christine. Having your grandmother involved in your wedding is something both of you will remember with joy. Please accept my very best wishes for you and your groom.
One of my personal fond memories is the look on my grandmother’s face at my wedding more than 45 years ago. My Gran always made me feel loved and special, but never more than that day. It’s a precious memory. I still miss her.
