Heritage Hunt: The results

MyHeritage got into the Spring spirit last week with our own “Heritage Hunt,” an online scavenger hunt through our record collections.

We asked you to identify three people - using our online digital archive, SuperSearch - and find their records and details.

Here are the answers:

  • In our Social Security Death index, we looked for a singer who died in California in May 1998 and was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1915. The correct answer was Frank Sinatra.

  • In our 1940 US census collection, we asked you to find a non-American, who received his US citizenship the same year of the census, which includes his household in Mercer County, New Jersey. The person also had one sibling listed in the record with the first name Maja. The correct answer was the German-born Nobel-Prize winning theoretical physicist Albert Einstein, who arrived to the US in 1933.

  • Buried in our Canadian Headstone collection was the gravestone of this woman, born August 1955, and who died in March 2005. Her surname is the same as the current Canadian prime minister, Stephen Harper.  Another clue was that the record included both a first and middle name.  The correct answer was Leslie Ann Harper, who was buried in Lakeshore, in Ontario, Canada.

The winner will be contacted in the next few days, and will receive one year of free and unlimited access to MyHeritage’s online digital archive – SuperSearch – with access to over 4 billion historical records, along with millions of public family trees and newspaper articles.

Don’t forget to check out our record collections to see what you can discover from your family history!
