What connects William Shakespeare, Ingrid Bergman and Mike Douglas?
All three were famous and had something to do with acting. What unites them is that each died on the same month and day as their birthday.
English poet, playwright and actor William Shakespeare was born April 23 1564; and died on the same month and day in 1616. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in English literature and someone who revolutionized theater.
Born the third of eight children to John Shakespeare - a glover, trader and a local politician - and Mary Arden. John and Mary were cousins - their mothers were sisters. This type of marriage was not unusual in 16th-century England.
It is believed that he was born in the Henley Street family home. Although William's exact date of birth is not known he was baptized on April 26. Tradition says that baptism took place no more than a few days after birth, and his birth date is recorded as April 23, 1564.
Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman's story is quite different. She was born in Stockholm, Sweden on August 29 , 1915, and died August 29 , 1982. She appeared in film and theater, achieving international fame. She was named after a Swedish princess, Ingrid Bernadotte.
When she was three years old, her mother died. Her father, an artist and photographer, died when she was 13, and she was then raised by her aunt. She was 21 when she married Petter Lindstrom in 1937, and gave birth to her first daughter, Pia, six months later. She married three times and had four children.
American singer, artist and TV presenter Mike Douglas (not to be confused with living actor Michael Douglas, son of Kirk Douglas), was born August 11, 1925, and died August 11 , 2006. Born Michael Delaney Dowd, Jr., in Chicago, Illinois, he began his career by singing in the church choir.
This coincidence in timing of birth and death for some is not that common.
