Our kitchen table was the only work space in our kitchen. So bread was kneaded there, cookies were mixed, put on pans, and after baking were placed there. Between meals, my sisters and I made paper dolls there, by cutting out the models in the Sears catalog, and placing clothing on them. We did our homework there, and any projects made by our family were done on that table. Turkeys were stuffed there, and eaten there as well. Since we had only a kerosene lamp, we all gathered closely.
Now we have 'counter-tops' for all those jobs done on that table.
