Yes i have been trying to trace down my ancestry for a while. My grandfather on my fathers side unfortunately changed his name. His Australian name was Thomas George Adams married to Dorothy Hampshire. They had six children together one of them being my father William George Adams b:11/11/1920 and d:10/02/1981. I understood that his surname could of been Brew or Braun of Geman descent. If their is anybody out there who would know of him please contact me L.Gettens(nee Adams) on my email address leoniegettens@yahoo.com.au, Thankyou.

Where do you search for a relative, who was born Louise Drew born Lewisham 1905, married 1927 to Henry Edward Low they emigrated to Black Rock Victoria Melbourne in 1957. on the Himalaya. I have even been to my Aunts address in Black Rock on a visit to Australia but it was empty. Henry died in 197l on a cruise Melbourne to Sidney and was buried at sea. I have looked everywhere for her did she get married again?

I have a couple of "brick wall" folk that I am looking for, so far unsuccessfully. both in the same generation.

One is my GrGrGrandfather William McCauley. I have records of him with his wife and their family. census records and basically all records show that he was born in Philadelphia PA, 14 Jan 1845. he served in the Civil War, in the 124 IL Infantry. his death certificate even lists his father's name as Thomas McCauley. that is the ONLY place I can find a reference to a parent, and I don't know for sure that it is correct. finding a Thomas McCauley, who according to the census data was born in Ireland, with a wife either born in Scotland or Ireland, and a son named William McCauley, in Philadelphia at that time is the proverbial needle in a hay stack!!!

secondly I have my GrGrGrandmother, Marie Angelique/Angeline Fontaine/La Fortune. and yes... the fact that her French Canadian names are spelled in different ways, or perhaps are dit names? makes it all the more difficult to find her family of origin. again, we find her with her husband and find them both listed as parents of their children. censuses usually list her as born in Canada, ca 1817 tho one of her son's censuses listed her as born in NY, I think in error. her parents are always listed as born in Fr Canada. she married Joseph Breau/Brehio/Brion, and they lived in Keeseville NY, but the records there were lost in a fire. I don't know if they were married there or in Canada? their son, my GrGrandfather, was born in Keeseville, NY. they are buried there. however, she died in Winchendon, MA in 1899, where her family had moved by then.

I have already found other people looking for, at least Marie Angelique. what I am really anxious to find is the families of origin of these brick wall folk, so I can continue to move on back! we are all stuck at the same place.
