Yes, the easter bonnet was a must. It then became a cake in the forrm of a bonnet. Egg hunt for the children. Big Easter morning breakfast before the hunt , naturally. As much of the family together as possible. Good Friday is passed in silence and austerity. Go to all the relevant church services beginning Ash Wednesday through to Easter Morning. 6 o'clock am service. A very special time of year! South Africa

We start with special services beginning Ash Wednesday and Thursday Tenebrae. We have family night when we go through the stations of the cross and try to imagine the experiences Jesus had before the day of crucifixion. at one point we go down into the basement of the church , turn off the lights so were enveloped in absolute blackness to signify the tomb. Easter Sunday the isles are lined with candles and it's just always a glorious service leaving one with a renewed spirit.

Harold A. Snary Ontario Canada; It was a tradition in our families in the past , that the women would have a new hat, or coat. We now celebrate Good Friday with a church service where iron nails are placed in a container on a cross by everyone to show that CHRIST died for our sins and we turn them over to him. On sat we will have a family meal, and egg or chocolate bunny hunt for all. Sun we have a SON RISE cervice at 8:00 am, followed by a SON RISE breakfast, and a regular church service at 10:00 am. In the afternoon another family get together and meal
