When you find an ancestor of whose behaviour you disapprove, consider the social conditions an history of that period. People behave differently under stress, than under favourable conditions

In tracking the family members, before encoding the names, try to write the male names in block letters while female shall be in italics so as not to confuse the gender because there are unique names. Also in interviews with relatives, never be tired of repetitive questions, especially elders who are sole sources of info but may have mental lapses.

Be honest to your heritage!
I believe we are who we are because of the generations that have gone before, you can't change the past but do record it. Record everything, be tactful in the way you do it but by hiding from it doesn't change what has happened.

Congratulations to you both. I agree with both Patricia and Smadar - you can find wonderful things in your family tree but beware of finding things you or others may not like.

Congratulations to the winners. I particularly liked Patricia's advice which is very well said. It resonated with me as I've stumbled upon information that I have had to be extremely respectful with .
