I am having a rough time tring to find immigration details on my great-grandmother who came from Ireland. Lore has it that she joined an older sister (Mary Louise) who had gone to Baltimore so the assumption would be that she went there probably from Liverpool or another British port. The maiden name ws McHugh but on her death certificate her father's name is listed as Thomas McCue (probably a misspelling because of the accent) Her name was Katherine (Catherine) but was called Kate and she married George Oswalt (Oswald) from Indiana in Austin, Texas (1869) where he was stationed with the Union Army as part of the Army of Reconstruction. He stayed in the army being stationed in the various forts on the Texas Frontier retiring from Ft. Brown (today Brownsville) and moving to San Antonio. George and Kate remained in San Antonio with their daughters Nora and Eva until their deaths, Kate in 1919 and George in 1921. I was told that Kate came from Cavan by my late mother but a surviving uncle believes it was Mayo. We are fortunate to have found photographs which were in the home of another uncle who had passed on 5 years ago. Any help would be appreciated.
