Poll: How Often Does Your Extended Family Meet Up?

Most of us see our immediate family pretty regularly - the parents, siblings, spouses, children, and grandparents we spend much of our time with. But the frequency of get-togethers among the wider family tends to vary a lot from culture to culture and family to family.

For some of us, we only see the extended family on the most special of occasions. For others, get-togethers are just a regular feature of the monthly calendar.

What about your own relatives? Do you see the extended family very often, or hardly at all?

it kind of depends on which family members, and which year you are talking about... some years we see more family members than other years. but in my husband's family, his parents try to host an annual family "open house", and in my family the largest gathering would be at my "cousin's" house for Thanksgiving. I was raised with my 2nd cousins really feeling more like most people's first cousins... and these days, my son and his wife are raising THEIR kids as cousins to THEIR 4th cousins!!! (my second cousin's grandkids!) I am sure there are a lot of families that don't even know who their 4th cousins ARE!
