In this series we look at some of the more interesting family stories from around the world over the past 7 days.
Included in this week's list are stories from USA, The Netherlands, Korea, Turkey and Fiji
Today is the 83rd Annual Academy Awards and it was great to so many stars bringing their family members along to the awards. It was even better to see that family connection taken to the stage with co-hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway, who ran this great skit with some special ladies in their lives. Nice...
In Northern Europe, Her Majesty the Queen of The Netherlands once again bestowed the "Royal" title upon the Asscher Family's amazing diamond company. This continues Royal Asscher's reign as the only Royal diamond company in the world.
From South Korea, there's news that Family Names are becoming more diverse. A combination of name changes by Koreans and an increasing amount of foreign immigration means that the usual surnames of Kim, Park and Lee are now being joined by some far less common names for the first time.
Here's a strange story from Turkey about a man who was divorced 22 years ago in the UK, who can't remarry in Turkey because his divorce has not been recognised by the Turkish courts.
Finally, we don't cover family news from the Pacific Islands enough, so here's a good news story about Leveni Tani who will join his two brothers as a Fijian National Rugby side representative. There would have been some interesting games of football in the family backyard when these boys were growing up!
That's it for this week's Families Around the World.
If you have any amazing family stories you think our blog readers would like to hear about, feel free to put some info and a link in the comments to this post and we'll see if we can add it to next week's edition of FAW.
