I have a query. How can I enter a child born to one sibling and then adopted by another – e.g. Alice had a daughter, Mary but she was not married so her married sister Sarah adopted the child and from that day it took on her Aunt’s married name as her own, no formal adoptions papers were completed, this happened in the 1880’s.
