Holiday Traditions: A Swedish Christmas
One of my fondest Christmas memories is the one I spent with a childhood friend whose family was from Sweden. I was captivated by the tradition of St. Lucia's Day, which celebrates the patron saint of light. As the eldest daughter, my friend would wear a beautiful long white dress and become "Queen of Light," signing an enchanting tune, "Santa Lucia." In this tradition, the "Queen of Light" visits every room of the house to serve treats and tea to each family member. It was such a memorable event, that to this day I still think of it and would like to share with you this clip. Enjoy!
