Yesterday we posted some photos from the Blitz, to tie in with this weekend's MyHeritage.com event at the Imperial War Museum in London. We promised to show you how you can create photos like this yourself, so here's a brief description of how to do this.
The site you want to use is Historypin, which you can access here.
While still in beta mode, Historypin allows you to go back and view a wealth of photos from locations relevant to you in the past. You can explore their 'map' - which is set over Google Maps - and search any location for any date from 1840 to the present day. Once you've located a photo that looks interesting, you may be able to overlay it on Google Street View, as we did in yesterday's post.
It's well worth having a play around with the site, but if you want to take it further why not contribute back yourself? If you've got your own historical photos, adding them to the site allows the community to grow and for others to appreciate what you've found.
So give it a try. The link, once again, is here.
