I have had no trouble scanning these & the rouge tint on the cheeks comes through fine. I have used basic (I think )flatbed scanners, one was an HPScaanjet 4890 & my current one is an Epson Perfection V500 I have a number of tintypes, the oldest of which dates to about 1860 (I identified the subject & based on her dob & apparent age concluded it was c. 1860). I even manage to look round the one where the painting was done.
